Local Charities Benefit from Marple Business Forum
Since 2008, the Marple Business Forum have raised and donated over £13,000 to various local charities and worthwhile causes. Through a variety of different events, including Race Nights, Sponsored Swimathon and Casino Nights, the members of the Marple Business Forum have been working tirelessly for the last 3 years to raise funds for good causes and local organisations that share the same goal of helping improve Marple.
Donations made to-date by the Marple Business Forum include:
- Over £6,500 to the Find A Cure For Martha campaign
- Over £3,500 to Stockport Canal Boat Trust for Disabled People (New Horizons)
- Over £1,000 to The Marple Festival
- Over £750 to Friends of Marple Memorial Park
- Over £700 to the Rotary Club of Marple & Goyt Valley
- Over £400 to Marple Locks Festival
On top of these monetary donations, the Marple Business Forum and its members have also made a large number of practical donations such as kettles, toasters or TV’s. The members of the Marple Business Forum also regularly provide prizes for tombola’s, raffles and other fundraising events arranged by different organisations.
Kay Gould-Martin from the Marple Business Forum Fundraising Committee said “We are really proud of the fantastic amount of money that the Marple Business Forum has raised for local causes. All of our members recognise the importance of giving something back to the community that supports us.”
But don’t think the Marple Business Forum is resting on their laurels. Plans are already being discussed for a new major fundraising event so keep an eye out for more information.
Established in 2001, Marple Business Forum is an organisation with a membership of 159 local businesses and works to promote Marple and address key issues in the interest of its members and the wider community.
